Exceptional Journey in Charming Chiba

Hola amigos! Hernán Darío Traini here, your guide for a 2-day expedition through the breathtaking landscapes of Chiba prefecture. Follow me on my Instagram [@hernan_japan] for more travel pics and stories.

Let's dive right in!

Day 1: Tokyo Station to Yasuda

Board the 8:54 JR Sobu/Uchibo line from Tokyo Station towards Kimitsu. The journey lasts approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Upon arrival, switch to the Yasuda line and embark on a short, 13-minute ride to Yasuda Station. The total cost is around ¥ 1,980.

Strawberry Picking @ Family Farm Yasuda

Fruit-picking season in Chiba brings a delightful opportunity to visit the local strawberry farm in Yasuda. It's a 12-minute walk from the station. Strawberries here are big, juicy, and perfect for a fun, family-friendly outing. The farm is open from 10am - 5pm, and there's no time limit for how long you can stay and eat.

Nokogiriyama: A Mountain of Natural Wonders

A hearty breakfast at the hotel kickstarts our second adventure—a 1-hour walk along Tokyo Bay to reach Nokogiriyama. The scenic trek offers stunning views throughout. After that, ride the Nokogiriyama Ropeway (¥950 roundtrip) up the mountain to witness breathtaking views of Japanese nature.

Prepare for an invigorating hike at the summit. The terrain is uneven, and the wind can be strong, but the breathtaking vistas make it all worthwhile. Admire the majestic 30-meter tall sculpture of Shaku-Shaku Kannon, a symbol of peace and mercy.

Kanpo Hotel no Yado Kamogawa: Your Home Away from Home

During my Chiba adventure, I had the pleasure of staying at the Kanpo Hotel no Yado Kamogawa. This traditional Japanese-style lodge offers tatami rooms, hot spring baths (onsen), and regional cuisine. The cost of a private onsen is ¥1,200, and the hotel also features a karaoke room.

Day 2: Hanabatake Road and Nomizu no Taki Waterfall

Hanabatake Road

Begin your second day with a quick visit to Hanabatake Road, a flower farm bursting with colorful Canola flowers. Take some memorable photos, but remember to respect the area—this is a working farm, after all! Hanabatake Road is open from 9:30am - 3:00pm.

Nomizu no Taki Waterfall

Our final destination, Nomizu no Taki Waterfall, promises a picturesque end to our journey. This award-winning waterfall boasts stunning photographs throughout the day. While the best time for a photo shoot is between 6:40am and 7:20am, beautiful shots can be captured any time of the day.

During May and July, fireflies add an enchanting touch to the late-night views. Keep in mind that Nomizu no Taki Waterfall has no entry fees.
