Equestrian Jody Morton's Global Journey Raises Awareness for Mental Health
Jody Morton, a passionate equestrian and mental health advocate, has embarked on an extraordinary journey. She is traversing the globe on horseback, covering thousands of kilometers, to raise awareness for mental health. Her mission, Green Golden Blues, was born out of personal tragedy and a desire to make a difference.
Jody began her epic journey in Australia, tackling the National Trail's 5,330 kilometers. Her loyal horses, including Thelma, have been steadfast companions. Due to a devastating drought, Jody had to rethink her route. Undeterred, she continued her mission in the United States, accompanied by her friend Gillian Larson.
Jody's journey hasn't been easy. She has faced personal challenges that affected her mental health. Yet, she uses these experiences to drive conversations around mental health and equestrian life on her social media platforms. She advocates for acknowledging mental health struggles and seeking resources. Her journey has taken her through Germany, France, and Spain, accompanied by her horses Braz, Lucky, and Mint.
The Green Golden Blues initiative symbolizes the connection between Australia and the association of 'the blues' with depression. Jody Morton's courageous journey is more than just a ride; it's a call to action for mental health awareness, especially in remote communities. Her dedication and resilience serve as an inspiration to all.
