Enduring filth ranging from spills to canine soil, what's life like in Schwerin?

The Heimatcheck is on across our platform and the Schweriner Volkszeitung! Over 8,000 residents have already participated in the survey in the first few days. This public platform allows individuals from the area and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to openly express their concerns. One survey respondent from Schwerin mentioned, "I'd like to see those eyesores, like the Strandhotel or the old ferry in Müß, disappear. More young people should be attracted to the state capital too. Schwerin needs a university and housing for young and old," according to the survey.

There's a call for "comprehensive camera surveillance with facial and object recognition" as a hotly debated topic, much like the demand for a new mayor in the city. Although democratic processes apply, city politicians could discuss issues like "abolishing the dog tax" or "introducing a tax obligation for E-bikes and E-scooters," as suggested in the response package for the Heimatcheck. Other concerns in Schwerin include a car-free city center, a fireworks ban, more dog parks, and upholding resident responsibilities like sidewalk cleaning.
