Emergency Call Day: Remember 112 for EU Fire, Police, Rescue

Lars Wienand, spokesperson for fire safety education and fire brigade information of the Association of Fire Brigades in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), recently appeared in public to promote the Emergency Call Day initiative. The event, held on February 11, 2022, aimed to raise awareness about the Europe-wide emergency number 112.

The Association of Fire Brigades in NRW seeks to inform citizens that they only need to remember one emergency number, 112, when traveling within the EU. This number provides direct access to fire, police, and rescue services across the continent.

Wienand stressed the importance of staying on the line during an emergency call. Dispatchers will ask necessary questions and provide helpful instructions until help arrives. The 112 number connects to the responsible emergency call center in all mobile networks, ensuring a quick response in case of an emergency.

The Emergency Call Day on February 11, 2022, served as a reminder of the Europe-wide emergency number 112. The Association of Fire Brigades in NRW encourages everyone to save this number and remember it for quick access to fire, police, and rescue services while traveling within the EU.
