Elderly Women Targeted in Viersen Purse Snatchings
Viersen has experienced a surge in bag snatchings, with three incidents targeting senior women in the pedestrian area. The Criminal Investigation Department 2 in Dülken is seeking information on suspects.
The first incident occurred at 13:00 in an Old Navy store on Benrather Street in St. Tönis. In both cases, the zippers of the victims' handbags were opened by unknown persons, and their wallets were stolen. A 75-year-old woman from Kempen had her husband's wallet taken, while an 80-year-old woman from Wegberg described a suspect: approximately 40 years old, about 1.60 meters tall, with dark, shoulder-length hair. No other specific suspects have been identified. The police are urging anyone with information to contact them via 02162/377-0.
