Direct service between Oslo and Malmö will soon become a reality in Norway.

In the vibrant city of Malmö, budget-conscious travellers can now enjoy a night out at five affordable bars, while those seeking a fancy dinner date can indulge in the city's five finest restaurants.

Meanwhile, across the sea in Oslo, Norway, food enthusiasts will find six budget-friendly eateries to satisfy their appetite.

But the most exciting news for travellers comes from the rail industry. Vy Tog, a leading operator in both Norway and Sweden, is set to launch a new train service between Oslo and Malmö, starting from July 14th. This service will run until August 11th, with two daily departures, offering a convenient and scenic travel option between the two cities.

For those continuing their journey beyond Malmö, the train service will provide direct access to Bergen and Trondheim after arrival in Oslo. This new direct service will also make connections to Copenhagen and Hamburg easier from Oslo, making long-distance travel more accessible.

Erik Røhne, the Executive Director of Vy Tog, expresses his confidence in the popularity of the summer train. Tickets for this service will go on sale in mid-April, and if it proves successful, the service is expected to continue in future summers.

However, it's worth noting that as of early August 2025, there is no specific public announcement date from Vy Tog regarding the return of train service between Oslo and Copenhagen. Current travel options between these two cities primarily involve bus services operated by Vy Buss, with direct buses running frequently daily.

For those planning a trip to Oslo, there is plenty of information available on how to spend 24 hours in the Norwegian capital, ensuring a memorable visit.

As always, travellers are advised to keep an eye on Vy Tog's official channels for any updates regarding the potential resumption of train service between Oslo and Copenhagen.
