Demos Forum 2025: Philanthropy's Role in Addressing Societal Challenges

The ninth edition of Demos Forum, held in Seville from September 30 to October 1, 2025, brought together over four hundred representatives of Spanish foundations and charitable entities. The main event, themed 'Frontiers of Philanthropy', highlighted the importance of solidarity, international cooperation, and the role of philanthropy in society.

Juan Bueno, first deputy mayor of Seville City Council, opened the forum by emphasizing Seville's historical role as a meeting point between continents and cultures. He underscored the importance of broadening solidarity and international cooperation.

Pilar García Ceballos, president of the Spanish Foundation Association (AEF), echoed Bueno's sentiments. She argued that foundations help overcome limits and gaps in society, complementing public activity. Carolina España, counselor of Economy, Finance, and European Funds of the Andalusian Regional Government, recognized the agile and flexible responses of social entities in addressing these challenges.

Pedro Fernández, delegate of the Government in Andalusia, further emphasized the role of philanthropy. He stated that it can complement public activity to multiply its impact. Juan Bueno, also speaking at the event, advocated for the essential role of philanthropy in social innovation and cooperation. Mac Simón, deputy director of Fundación 'la Caixa', thanked attendees and stressed the importance of foundations' work in an unequal world.

The ninth Demos Forum, held in Seville, underscored the significance of philanthropy in addressing societal challenges. With over four hundred representatives in attendance, the event highlighted the crucial role of foundations and charitable entities in complementing public activity and fostering international cooperation.
