Construction of a fresh Hyatt Group hotel between East Station and the East Side Gallery
The Schilling Bridge, a historical landmark in Berlin, took over the Andreasstraße and became an integral part of the city's important traffic axes. Originally constructed in 1841, the bridge has been a connection between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg/Mitte ever since.
The bridge, adjacent to the Me and All Hotel Berlin East Side, was built under the leadership of Leopold Seeck in 1874. Over the years, it has undergone numerous renovation and expansion projects, including a comprehensive renovation between 1991 and 1994, when it was severely damaged during World War II.
The Schilling Bridge has a history of accommodating increasing traffic and undergoing aesthetic improvements. Prior to the Schilling Bridge, an older private wooden bridge stood at the same location. Throughout the 20th century, the bridge underwent several widening and beautification projects.
The Me and All Hotel, opened by the Hyatt hotel group, is located in Berlin-Friedrichshain on the northern bank of the Spree, near the border with Kreuzberg. The hotel's location is considered a testament to the enduring appeal of the neighbourhood. The design of the hotel references Berlin's divided history and combines it with modern comfort.
The architectural concept aims to unite both functional aspects of hotel operations and references to the location. The hotel features a design concept that incorporates elements of East and West modernism between 1950 and 1980. The hotel's location at the intersection of cultural institutions, new office quarters, and tourist hotspots is seen as strategically advantageous by the hotel operator, Hyatt.
The Schilling Bridge, which spans the Spree at this point, runs directly alongside the hotel. The renovation of the Schilling Bridge was done while protecting it as a historic monument and restoring it to its original brick vault construction.
The Me and All Hotel Berlin East Side boasts a total of 227 rooms. With its unique blend of history and modernity, it offers guests a distinctive Berlin experience. The hotel is within walking distance of major Berlin attractions such as the Oberbaum Bridge, Ostbahnhof, or the Warschauer Bridge.
