In France, eleven departments in the northeast up to the Centre-Val-de-Loire region are on orange alert due to heavy rain and potential floods, as reported by Météo France. The alert, which took effect from 9 am on Wednesday, warns of local runoff and flooding of low-lying areas. In Nièvre, for instance, it has already rained between 20 and 40 mm in just 6 hours.

Meanwhile, international tensions remain high. The potential takeover of Gaza has sparked international disapproval and strengthened accusations of genocide against the Israeli government. The Israeli Minister of Defense has approved a plan to take over the city of Gaza by the army, a move that has caused fear among the families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Elsewhere, negotiations between NATO military personnel regarding security guarantees in case of a peace treaty between Kyiv and Moscow are taking place in Turkey. The meeting aims to prevent any new Russian attack on Ukraine and discuss the progress of diplomatic efforts. The summit between Putin and Zelensky is expected to take place in Europe, with Geneva being suggested as a potential location. Switzerland and Austria have expressed readiness to host the summit.

In a related development, the International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Swiss federal government, however, has the power to grant immunity to a person under an international arrest warrant for a peace conference.

On a positive note, an event called "Forgotten Vacations Day" is set to take place in Paris. Organized by the Secours populaire, 40,000 children from all over France and abroad are expected to attend. The event aims to provide activities for children who do not go on vacation for financial reasons, according to a 2021 INSEE study which found that 10% of those under 16 do not go on vacation for at least a week a year for financial reasons.

These events underscore the complex and dynamic nature of global affairs, with challenges and opportunities coexisting in various parts of the world.
