United Polaris Lounges: Exclusive Spaces for International Travelers
United Airlines has introduced a series of luxurious lounges, known as the United Polaris lounges, in some of its busiest hub airports. These lounges offer an exceptional experience for passengers traveling in United Polaris first or business class on long-haul international flights.
The United Polaris lounges are located at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (Terminal 1, Concourse C), George Bush Intercontinental Airport (Terminal E), Los Angeles International Airport (Terminal 7), Newark Liberty International Airport (Terminal C), San Francisco International Airport (International Terminal), and Washington Dulles International Airport (Midfield Terminal, Concourse C). Each lounge operates from early morning until late evening, with the London Heathrow United Polaris lounge opening daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
These lounges provide a wide range of amenities, including a la carte breakfast menus, breakfast-oriented snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, showers, and a quiet space. They also offer extra amenities such as spa-like shower facilities and exclusive rest areas featuring day beds, soft lighting, and gentle white noise.
The lounges offer unique dining experiences, from a hot and cold buffet to a sit-down à la carte meal in private dining spaces. Full buffets, full-service bars, pre-flight dining, quiet suites, and showers are available as select amenities in these lounges.
It is important to note that access to United Polaris lounges is strictly limited. Elite status alone does not grant access, and no credit cards or memberships can be used to access these lounges. United does not sell Polaris lounge memberships or day passes.
Access requires presenting a valid boarding pass for a Polaris-eligible flight arriving or departing within 24 hours. One guest is allowed for Star Alliance First Class passengers with qualifying itineraries.
This is distinct from United Club lounges, where co-branded credit cards, memberships, or certain elite statuses can grant entry, and guest policies differ.
In short, Polaris lounges are exclusive to long-haul international first and business class passengers on United or Star Alliance partners and cannot be accessed merely through elite status, credit cards, or paid memberships.
For travelers arriving at London Heathrow, the United Polaris lounge is available before noon. United also operates an international arrivals lounge at London Heathrow exclusively for United Polaris business class travelers.
