Collaborative undertakings with fellow cities in Pforzheim

Pforzheim, Germany, is inviting schools, groups, and associations to submit proposals for encounters and projects as part of its exchange program for the year 2024. The participating cities include Gernika (Basque Country/Spain), Győr-Moson-Sopron (Hungary), Nevşehir (Turkey), Osijek (Croatia), Saint-Maur-des-Fossés (France), Częstochowa (Poland), and Vicenza (Italy). However, the city partnership with Irkutsk, Russia, remains dormant due to the ongoing Ukraine war.

To be eligible for funding by the city of Pforzheim, projects must be reciprocal, and a partner group is typically required. Pforzheim can assist in mediating appropriate partner groups with the coordination offices of the partner cities.

Submissions should focus on intercultural or educational themes, possibly emphasising sustainability, cultural exchange, or innovation, consistent with the usual goals of partner city programs. Applicants are required to complete an application form provided by the Pforzheim program administration or associated university offices, submitting a project proposal or description of the encounter, personal or organizational background, evidence of how the project facilitates exchange or cooperation, and adherence to any specific timeline or formats mandated by the program.

It is important to note that trips with predominantly tourist or private character are not funded by the city of Pforzheim. For sporting events and cultural activities, competitions or performances are a prerequisite for funding.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday, October 15. Young people up to the age of 18 or up to 27 if they have no own income, are eligible for a municipal grant from the city of Pforzheim.
