A significant event is unfolding in Yakutia as a group of 34 Chinese tourists embark on a journey along the Yakutsk-Tiksi route today. This marks the first large organized tour of Chinese tourists to visit Yakutia since the pandemic, according to recent reports.

The delegation, led by Professor Li Xiguang from Tsinghua University, consists mainly of students from Beijing Foreign Studies University and Tsinghua University. Most of the delegation members have not previously visited the republic, indicating a keen interest in discovering Yakutia's rich history and culture.

The focus of their visit is on learning about the history of Yakutia's exploration, with particular interest in the moment when Yakutia became part of Russia. The Albazinsky conflict, a significant historical event, seems to have piqued their interest as well.

During their tour, the Chinese students-tourists visited the Yakutsk fortress tower, a historical landmark in Yakutia. The tour was expertly led by Alexander Dyakonov, the responsible secretary of the Yakutia branch of the All-Russian Society for the Preservation of Historical and Cultural Monuments (VOOPIK).

In an interview with Yakutia.Info, Alexander Dyakonov mentioned the group's interest in the Albazinsky conflict and their eagerness to learn more about Yakutia's history. Two of the Chinese students were even observed speaking Russian and listening attentively throughout the tour.
