Changi Airport in Singapore unveils a wellness zone aimed at alleviating weariness experienced during travel

Changi Airport, known for its leisure and relaxation amenities, has recently introduced a unique addition to its offerings – the Fit&Fun Zone. This wellness area, located in Terminal 2 (Transit), Level 3, above Dreamscape, is designed to combine fitness activities with entertaining elements, providing travelers with a fun and engaging way to stay active during their layovers.

The Fit&Fun Zone spans 400 square metres and is free and accessible to all travellers. It is part of Changi Airport's ongoing efforts to enhance the passenger experience, offering a fresh approach to combat travel fatigue and revitalize passengers.

The zone is divided into five colour-coded sections, each offering a unique experience. The Orange Zone, for instance, provides Spar Pods – soft punching bags suspended by thin ropes – and 3D petal structures on the walls, offering a playful way for passengers to destress. The Pink Zone tests passengers' strength with pull-down levers connected to weights ranging from two to eight kilograms.

The Blue Zone features a nature-inspired rope maze, challenging passengers to navigate through obstacles without touching the ropes, enhancing concentration and problem-solving skills. The Green Zone provides six pendulum chairs for relaxation and serenity. For a fun cardio workout, the Yellow Zone offers trampoline pods for travellers to jump, dance, and bounce while enjoying music.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) has announced a S$3 billion investment plan to upgrade critical airport infrastructure, including baggage handling systems, check-in processes, and immigration services, many of which are approaching the end of their operational lifespan. This investment also focuses on improving Skytrain connections between terminals at Changi Airport, facilitating smoother and more efficient transfers for passengers.

The development of Terminal 5, a project designed to boost the airport's capacity significantly, is also part of this investment plan. Once completed in the mid-2030s, Terminal 5 is expected to handle an additional 50 million passengers annually, bringing Changi's total capacity to approximately 140 million passengers per year and enhancing the airport's connectivity from 150 to 200 cities worldwide.
