Breaking news: Cyprus Airports' Passenger Record Shatters in July 2025, According to Hermes

In a significant milestone, Cyprus’s two international airports, Larnaka and Pafos, have recorded the highest monthly passenger traffic ever, with 1,653,880 passengers passing through in July 2025. This surpasses previous busiest months, including August 2024.

This exceptional growth is part of an overall 11.4% increase in passenger traffic from January to July 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, with 7.3 million passengers handled.

Several key factors have contributed to this growth. Strong summer demand and tourism appeal, especially during Cyprus’s peak travel season, have driven increased leisure travel. Significant market momentum from key countries such as Israel, the United Kingdom, Poland, Greece, Armenia, and Germany, which collectively accounted for about 70% of the overall growth in passenger numbers, also played a significant role.

The growth in passenger numbers can also be attributed to the improved performance of 40 out of 58 airlines operating in Cyprus. Major contributors include Wizz Air, Aegean, Cyprus Airways, TUI Group, LOT, and Air Haifa, which together drove 60% of the market expansion.

The introduction of 5 new airlines and 6 new routes in the first seven months of 2025 has also enhanced connectivity and provided more travel options, further boosting passenger volumes.

Larnaca Airport handled 1,201,023 passengers in July alone, a 13.5% increase compared to July 2024, reflecting strong demand especially from the UK market. Paphos airport accounted for 46% of traffic from the UK, and Larnaca 19%.

Hermes Airports, the operator of both Larnaca and Paphos airports, made the announcement through a post on their official platform, expressing pride in the record-breaking numbers and attributing the success to the dedication of airport staff and partners. The post also highlighted that this milestone reflects not only Cyprus' ever-increasing popularity as a destination but also the effective partnerships between airports, airlines, and tourism sectors that have driven this record-breaking passenger traffic performance in July 2025.
