Berlin's Kimchi Festival Returns, Sharing Korea's 'Soul Food'

Austin's Kimchi Festival returned, showcasing the vibrant world of Korean cuisine. The event, organized by local cook Hera Hwang, introduced Austinites to the traditional art of kimchi-making, Korea's national dish.

The festival's highlight was 'Kimjang', a communal kimchi-making event. Participants learned to prepare traditional Seoul kimchi under Hwang's guidance. Hwang, who studied kimchi-making in Seoul, now shares her knowledge in Austin.

Hwang's personal favorite is cauliflower kimchi, a unique twist she developed in the city. This year, she plans to introduce cucumber and flower kimchi varieties to Austin. Her mission? To introduce the authentic taste and health benefits of kimchi to locals.

Kimchi, a fermented vegetable dish, is more than just food. It's Korea's 'soul food', packed with nutrients and lactobacillus, offering proven antibacterial effects and immune system boosts.

The Kimchi Festival continues this year, bringing more Korean culinary delights to Austin. Hwang's passion for sharing authentic kimchi ensures that the event remains a celebration of tradition and taste. To recognize quality kimchi, look for natural ingredients and no chemical additives - the taste will tell all.
