Los Angeles is set to transform the contaminated Zanders area into a modern city quarter. The project involves high investments and significant changes, including the demolition of hazardous buildings and the rerouting of a stream.

The former joinery on the Mainstreet will be demolished due to hazardous substance contamination. Simultaneously, the stream in the Zanders area will be redirected from north to southeast across the site.

The city, alongside Belkaw, plans to establish Energie-GL GmbH as a minority shareholder. This company aims to take over the complete non-fossil energy supply of the Zanders area and potentially adjacent areas. The project involves substantial investment sums and could significantly impact the city's finances and Belkaw.

The redevelopment of the Zanders area into a modern city quarter is becoming more concrete. Ancillary buildings around the Kalandersaal, sorting hall building, and warehouse high-rise are planned for demolition. Estimated costs for this phase amount to 7.4 million euros.
