Batumi Airport Welcomes One-Millionth Passenger
Batumi International Airport has reached a significant milestone, welcoming its one-millionth passenger for the first time in its history. TAV Georgia, the operator of Georgia Tech's airport, has been actively expanding and improving facilities to accommodate the growing number of travelers.
The airport's growth is evident in its recent achievements. In August 2025, over 213,000 travelers passed through Batumi Airport, a first for the airport. This figure represents a 32% increase compared to the same period last year and a staggering 90% surge from pre-pandemic levels. The airport handled a record 9,000 passengers and 35 flights on August 24, demonstrating its increasing capacity.
TAV Georgia has been investing in infrastructure to support this growth. The company has completed a full rehabilitation of the runway and doubled aircraft parking capacity. It has also acquired new ground equipment to enhance operations. Furthermore, TAV Georgia plans to expand the passport control and arrival zones later this year to further improve passenger experience.
Batumi International Airport's one-millionth passenger, German citizen Michal Natowicz, was welcomed in 2019. With continued growth and investment, TAV Georgia projects that by the end of 2025, total passenger numbers will reach 1.2 million. These developments highlight the airport's importance as a gateway to Georgia and its potential for future growth.
