Barratt Homes Launches The Woodlands: Affordable Homes Surrounded by Nature in Canterbury

Barratt Homes has launched The Woodlands, a new real estate development in Broad Oak, Canterbury. The development offers homes surrounded by ancient woodland, with prices starting from £309,995 for a two-bedroom home. Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt Kent, commented on the unique features of the development, including Rupert Bear-themed road names and its connection to nature.

The Woodlands will eventually offer 456 homes, including 123 affordable ones. The first phase consists of 121 homes, with 54 being affordable. The development is not just about housing; it also includes plans for allotments, schools, realtor units, and a rugby club. Sustainability is a key focus, with measures such as hedgehog highways and bat boxes incorporated into the design. The homes themselves are designed to be up to 57% cheaper to run than older homes, and electric vehicle charging points will be installed. The development will also boast a network of pedestrian and cycle routes, connecting residents to surrounding areas. The S106 agreement for the development will see over £15m invested into Broad Oak and the surrounding area for improvements, ensuring the development benefits the wider community.

The Woodlands, with its blend of nature, affordability, and community focus, is an attractive option for families. With 'Good' and 'Outstanding' schools nearby and a well-populated High Street in Sturry, it offers a high quality of life. The development's commitment to sustainability and community investment sets it apart, making it a promising addition to the Broad Oak area.
