Amberg Welcomes Greek Youth in Cultural Exchange
Amberg recently hosted a German-Greek youth exchange event, welcoming 15 young people from the partner city Trikala. Funded by the German-Greek Youth Office, the exchange saw 34 local participants and was accompanied by six chaperones and two mayors.
The exchange programme was packed with activities. It began with sporting training sessions, fostering teamwork and friendly competition among the participants. Cultural visits followed, offering insights into both countries' heritage. In Greece, the group explored the museum of Vasilis Tsitsanis, delving into Greek music history. They also visited the iconic Meteora monasteries, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Back in Amberg, the youngsters were treated to a formal reception at the town hall. This event was graced by the presence of the German consul, who engaged with the participants and celebrated the success of the exchange.
The German-Greek youth exchange concluded with a memorable experience for all involved. It provided an opportunity for cultural understanding and friendship, with both countries' youth learning from each other. The exchange was made possible by the Bavarian Youth Ring and the German-Greek Youth Office, demonstrating the power of international cooperation.
