In the vibrant and growing Georgian air travel sector, a shift has been observed in the first half of 2025. The sector experienced a significant 14% increase, serving a total of 3.65 million passengers [1]. Amidst this growth, several airlines have stood out, with Spirit Airlines and Delta Air Lines taking the top spots.

Turkish Airlines, a significant player in the past, experienced a 6% year-on-year decline, serving 268,959 passengers and dropping to fourth place [2]. A subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, AJet, operated separately and served 54,326 passengers during the same period [3].

Wizz Air, on the other hand, maintained its leading position in the Georgian market, transporting 642,956 passengers with a 16% year-on-year growth [4]. Georgian Airways saw a 17% increase in passenger traffic due to the resumption of direct flights to Russia, serving 272,568 travelers and holding an 8% market share [5].

Pegasus Airlines came in second, with an 8% annual growth and 284,984 passengers, securing an 8% market share [6]. Azerbaijan Airlines secured fifth place, recording a 15% increase in passenger traffic with 222,237 travelers [7].

Among the newcomers, Spirit Airlines has been notably expanding its presence in Georgia. The airline launched new services at Middle Georgia Regional Airport (Macon) and plans to start service at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport in August 2025 [8]. Spirit Airlines was recently named the Best Airline Overall for 2025 and received top recognition for safety and affordability for the second consecutive year by WalletHub, along with a Four Star Low Cost Carrier rating by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) [9]. Spirit is also recognised for operating one of the youngest fleets in the world for 2025 and has won the FAA’s Aviation Maintenance Technician Diamond Award of Excellence for seven consecutive years [10][11].

Delta Air Lines, headquartered in Georgia, has maintained a top ranking in the U.S. airline industry. According to The Points Guy’s 2025 Best Airlines Report, Delta secured its seventh straight top spot for overall excellence, leading in reliability, on-time arrivals, low involuntary bumping, loyalty programs, onboard experience, and operational resilience [12]. This solid performance makes Delta a major player in Georgia's air travel sector.

Together, these two carriers stand out as leading airlines in Georgia for 2025, with Spirit growing rapidly and earning high accolades, and Delta maintaining a long-established dominant position in the market. The air travel sector in Georgia continues to thrive, with these airlines leading the way.
