First Crab Picking for Agriculture Minister Rainer - Agriculture Minister Enjoys Crab-Picking in Büsum, Vows to Promote Sustainable Fisheries

Federal Minister of Agriculture Alois Ryan recently visited Büsum, where he expressed his enthusiasm for seafood, particularly crabs. During his visit, he attempted to pick crabs for the first time, learning the technique from local fishermen.

Minister Ryan, who enjoys eating fish and seafood, initially struggled with the task of picking crabs. However, with the help of a colleague from Schleswig-Holstein, Werner Schwarz, he mastered the technique. Schwarz demonstrated that crabs need to be turned at the second joint for easy picking.

During his visit to Büsum, Minister Ryan discussed the work of local crab fishermen. He plans to promote sustainable fisheries practices in the region, focusing on regulating the Kräbenfischerei (crab fishery). His aim is to balance ecological protection with the local economy's interests.

Minister Alois Ryan's visit to Büsum not only allowed him to experience the local crab-picking technique firsthand but also provided him with valuable insights into the work of local fishermen. His planned promotion of sustainable fisheries practices in the region reflects his commitment to supporting both environmental conservation and local economic development.
