80-Year-Old Woman Found Alive After 5 Days Trapped Under Fallen Tree
An 80-year-old woman from Willebadessen, district Höxter, was discovered alive on Wednesday, October 1, after being trapped under a fallen tree in the woods for several days. She had been missing since Saturday, September 27.
The woman, who was mushroom picking, was found around 200 meters away from a paved path. Relatives raised the alarm on Tuesday when they couldn't reach her. The search, involving around one hundred emergency services, was suspended due to darkness on the first day. On Wednesday, a helicopter crew spotted her, and she was freed using chainsaws. It remains unclear how she survived for so long or what she was doing in the woods. She will be questioned about her experience in the coming days.
The 80-year-old woman is now in the hospital and on the road to recovery. Her survival after being trapped for several days has been described as a miracle by local authorities.
